Nutritional Services

Dietary
Perhaps one of the biggest misconceptions of hospital care is that the food has to taste bad. Our dietary staff strives to provide both variety and quality with their meals. Meals are tailored to maintain our patient's individual restrictions, as determined by our licensed dietitian. In addition to providing meals for our patients, our dietary also supplies meals for our physicians, staff, visitors, and those receiving "Meals on Wheels". In total the department provides more than 88,000 meals each year.
Our dining room is open to the public for breakfast and lunch. Public hours are 7:00a.m. - 8:30 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Registered Dietitian Guided Nutrition Services (RDGNS)
Our registered dietitian promotes the utilization of diet and lifestyle changes to treat or manage chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. Depending on the patient's needs, both group education and individual counseling is available highlighting the importance of diet, regular exercise, and living a healthy lifestyle. Counseling is available by appointment, and is covered by many insurance companies with a physician's referral. If your consultation is being referred by a physician the registered dietitian will contact you to schedule your appointment once the referral is received.

Some of the conditions that can be helped through RDGNS include:
* High blood pressure
* Hyperlipidemia
* Diabetes
* Food allergies
* Cancer / cancer treatment problems
